  • Mike Bryant

    Senior Pastor, Elder

    Mike began full time ministry in 1997 serving at two different churches in the areas of Student, Adult and Worship Ministries.  In 2007, the Lord called Mike to lead a group of thirty-five people in planting Grace Community Bible Church.  He continues to serve and lead this church as the Senior Pastor and an Elder. 

    In preparation for ministry, Mike earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Trinity International University, a Master of Divinity from Moody Theological Seminary and a pastoral training certificate from a Training Center for Church Planting.  Before entering vocational ministry, he worked in graphic design for five years. 

    Mike and his wife, Cathy, have four children – Alex, Emily, Max and Miles.

  • Andrew VonGillern

    Elder Board Chairman

    Andrew serves as Chairman of the Elder Board and family counselor. He also oversees Small Group Ministries.


    Andrew earned a Master’s of Divinity degree from Trinity International University.  Andrew and his wife Janet enjoy spending time with their four children, Mia, Troy, Naomi and Kate.

  • Doug Hook

    Doug is an Elder of Grace Community Bible Church and he also serves as an audio tech in the Worship Ministry. He is very passionate about Student Ministry. Doug's experience began when he accepted Christ as a junior in high school, and he has been serving with Student Ministries ever since.

    Doug lives in Volo with his wife, Jen, and their son Calvin. They were married in 1991.  The few moments in between family and ministry are taken up by cycling, watching the Blackhawks and "Would You Rather Wednesdays".

  • ANDY LEVANDOWSKI

    Andy serves as an Elder of Grace Community Bible Church. In 1990, God used a cousin to lead Andy and his wife, Shari, to attend a Bible study by Kay Arthur. Three weeks into the study, both Andy and Shari asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. From that point on, they became faithful followers of Christ. As they continue to grow, they continue to serve God by using the resources He has blessed them with.

    In 2007, Andy graduated from Trinity International University with a degree in education.  He has since then used his degree to work in various roles in in the education system and has authored the book, "And Then Comes Justice".

  • Gary Caller

    Gary serves as a Deacon of the church and works in church bookkeeping and finance.  Gary and his wife, Danna, serve in the Outreach and Welcome Ministries.  They were married in 1989.

    A licensed commercial pilot, the first years of his career were in professional aviation.  He also owned and operated a retail electronics company in Arkansas for nine years.  Gary and Danna moved to Gurnee in 2010 from Atlanta.  In 2011, they found an invitation on their front door to the church's Easter Worship Service.  Shortly thereafter, God made it clear that this is where He wanted them to serve Him. 

    Gary is retired and he loves to spend time in the kitchen experimenting and developing new recipes.

  • dave hatton

    Deacon


    Dave serves as a Deacon at Grace. He also serves as a producer in the Worship Ministry. Dave enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters. His favorite place to be is in the wilderness with a nice rolling single-track trail.


    Dave is a Certified Financial Planner (R).

  • David hoyer

    Deacon


    Dave serves as a Deacon of the Church, and he also serves in Children's Ministry.

  • john smallshaw


    Deacon


    John serves on the worship team at Grace playing electric guitar. Originally from the Milwaukee area, after attending Indiana University he had a career in International Sales which included 13 years living abroad in Europe and Asia. John also speaks four languages.


    Recently retired, John is currently rehabbing a 90 year summer home in southern Michigan into its third generation of family ownership and restoring two old vehicles.


  • Ed Wanland

    Ed serves as a Deacon and also serves in worship ministry. His passion is to encourage others to accept Jesus Christ, study scripture, pray for others and sharing personal testimony of answered prayers. Married since 1998 to his better half Philly who serves in the Church with her artsy talent providing props and stage background for holiday events.

    Ed is a licensed real estate broker who owns and operates a real estate brokerage company in Chicago. Loves to swim, golf, fish and bike.

  • john benz

    Johnny graduated from Trinity International University with a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies in 2004. He then continued on to receive his MDiv. from Trinity Divinity School in 2008. He has served as a Youth Pastor in Fox Lake from 2004-2008. He has been a teacher & chaplain at Christian Liberty Academy since 2009. He has been married to Charmagne since 2013. During his down time he loves anything competitive, especially board games. 

  • Cathy Bryant

    Cathy serves as the Director of Women's Ministry and the Welcome Ministry.

    She enjoys event planning, decorating and corralling her 4 children. She and Mike were married in 1998.

  • Aaron Buehrer

    Staff, Director of Worship Ministry

    Aaron serves as the Director of Worship Ministries of Grace Community Bible Church. In 2010, he began writing original music & leading worship in response to the calling on his life into music ministry. Aaron also records, engineers, and produces independently from his home studio in northern Chicagoland. He studied Music Theory & Performance at Illinois Central College, and studied ministry at Global University in Springfield, MO.

    In June of 2015, Aaron moved back to his home state of Illinois after years of leading worship in Houston, Texas. His goals are to reach the ends of the earth with what God has set his hands to do (Proverbs 16:3) in music ministry.

    Aaron loves running, cats, fishing, catfishing, the Beatles, and watching Netflix with his wife, Rachel Anne.

    Jen lives in Volo with her husband Doug and son Calvin. If you've know Jen for only a short time you will learn that she is passionate about Doctor Who and knitting! Jen loves working with a dear friend and brother in Christ as her boss as well as all of the ministries at the church. She has been an administrative assistant at Grace Community for 3 years and looks forward to many more.


     


  • Katie Crisp

    Katie serves as the Director of Children's Ministry, and has been attending Grace since December 2015.  She is a senior at Trinity International University, studying Christian Ministries and Biblical Studies.  Katie is living in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and is an avid Packers and Brewers fan.  In her free time, Katie loves to spend time with her friends and husband, listening to country music, watching Disney movies, and hitting up local coffee shops.
